Doom is considered as the video game that revolutionized the FPS (First-Person Shooter) genre. Even though it is said that the first first-person shooter video game was Maze War, launched in 1974, it wasn't until Wolfenstein 3D (1992) and Doom (1993) were launched that this kind of video games started to gain popularity.

  The story of Doom starts with the development of a secret military project on Mars. The scientists have managed to find the way to teleport objects between the two moons of Mars, Fobos and Deimos. But the unexpected disappearance of Deimos has made it necessary for the Marines to intervene to save the humans that are still on Fobos.

  For this purpose, a group of marines is sent to Fobos, among these marines you will find the main character of the game, that will be the only survivor once the doors to Hell are opened. Your mission will be to shoot any creature that you come across to be able to survive each level.

  It is more than probable that Doom's success is due to its fantastic settings: all the game's elements are designed to transmit to the user the hostility of Mars (and its new “inhabitants”) and its graphic engine, that was exceptional for its time.
